UNHINGED PRODUCTIONS BOARD BIOS
Joe Angel Babb, Artistic Director As the newly appointed AD of Unhinged Productions, Joe Angel hopes to serve and connect many parts of the GLBT community with high quality home-grown theatre and community engagement. He is a seasoned theatre artist and an experienced educator capable of sharing the collaborative theatrical process with a broad community spectrum and developing the capacities of theatre artists. Joe Angel is an advocate for community arts programs that promote understanding and positive change. In Houston, he directed The House of Yes for Unhinged Productions, The Altruists for Theatre New West and The Adventures of Robin Hood for Express Children’s Theatre. Previous experience includes serving as the Arts Education Grants Manager for the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities, Community Programs Manager for the Shakespeare Theatre Company, Adjunct Instructor at Lansing Community College and Education Director for BoarsHead Theatre. Joe Angel holds an MFA in Theatre from the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance and a BA in Speech and Drama from Our Lady of the Lake University. He is also the Director of Education and Community Engagement for the Alley Theatre and an abstract painter.
Beth Kungel Borck, President Beth Kungel Borck begins her fourth season on the board of Unhinged Productions. She began on the board as the VP of Publicity and is beginning her third season as President of the organization. She is excited about the community-minded direction that Joe Angel will be navigating, and is committed to ensuring that this organization will have a solid foundation for the future. Personally, she holds degrees in Theatre and Sociology from the University of Houston . In Houston she has performed onstage with Unhinged Productions in Loosely Lysistrata (title role), with Slightly Off Center Players in Crimes of the Heart (Lenny) and various projects across Houston. Favorite roles from her days in Louisiana include Heavenly in the New Orleans Tennessee Williams Festival production of Sweet Bird of Youth and Rebecca in Our Town. Professionally she works as an Event Planner at the University of Houston - Clear Lake. She brings over 10 years of event planning, marketing and theatre operations experience, as well as 20 years of on-stage experience to the board.
Abraham Zapata, Treasurer Abraham Zapata joins the Board of Unhinged as a “Born Again” Texan, relocating from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Though new to the theatre scene in Texas, he has been extensively involved with theatre and the performing arts for well over a decade. While in western Michigan, he served on the Board of Directors for Actors’ Theatre of Grand Rapids, performed in dozens of productions throughout the area, (some of his favorites: The Shadow Box, La Boheme, Pacific Overtures, Corpus Christi, Devour the Snow), as well as performing in numerous commercials, instructional videos and voice over work for various projects. He has also worked with many companies throughout western Michigan such as Opera Grand Rapids, Heritage Theatre Group, Circle Theatre, Mason Street Warehouse, Civic Theatre and Spectrum Theatre with positions such as House Manager, Performer, Properties Designer, Stage Manager, Theatre Assistant and Associate Director. Abe is also a visual artist and playwright. Spending the larger half of his life in the pursuit of promoting and cultivating the performing arts, he is glad to have found a theatre group in his new home which he can dedicate his time and efforts. He brings his passion and knowledge of the arts and over 10 years of experience in administration and management to the board.
Gerard O'Brien Gerard O’ Brien joined Unhinged Productions this year as a new board member. Gerard is a local-business owner who has worked in many industries, and currently owns a vehicle-leasing company and ambulance-transport company. He is a graduate of The University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Real Estate. As Treasurer, Gerard is looking forward to maximizing Unhinged Productions ' funds, along with helping in the fundraising and marketing efforts.
Kerim Davis Kerim Davis served as the social media guru for Unhinged Productions 2008-2009 season and was a proud model for Hedwig's Fundraising Fashion Show. Kerim holds a BBA in Marketing and Management from the University of Houston (GO COOGS!!!), and was been involved in numerous professional organizations and student groups such as the Frontier Fiesta Association, the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and The Program for Excellence in Selling. His training, competing, developing, and teaching martial arts, specifically Tae-kwon-do, for the past 16 years have contributed to the person he is today. He joined Rice University in 2009 to professionally advise and support student run businesses and is currently pursuing a Master's in Educational Psychology.
Chris Kucera Mr. Chris Kucera is a graduate of Louisiana State University where he attained a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds a Master in Divinity from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University. He is currently the Vice President of Operations for West Insulation in Houston. He has been raising money for organizations since he sold Krispy Kreme Donuts as a Cub Scout starting in 1973. He was a charter member of the KIngwood Acting and Debating Society in 1979. He went on to become the Louisiana Cross Examination State Debate Champion in 1982. He is an Eagle Scout, Member of MENSA and an all-around swell guy. He is a member of The Four Seasons Club — a GLBT Social Organization, an underwriter for the Krewe of Olympus — Houston's GLBT Mardi Gras Krewe. He also supports many of the GLBT Organizations in Houston attending numerous fundraisers each month. He lives in Montrose with his partner Evan and his Shih-Tzu Duke.

Fernando Zamudio, Artistic Committee Born and reared in Veracruz, Mexico, Fernando came to the United States as a language student but fell in love with Houston and it's art scene. He has been involved with the stage as a dancer at the Ballet Nacional de México and now is on the production side as a costume designer. Internationally, he has designed costumes for two co-productions at the Centro Nacional de las Artes and at the Universidad Veracruzana, and one world premiere co-production at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and at the Universidad Veracruzana. In Houston he has designed costumes for the Alley Theatre ASK Program, Main Street Youth Theatre, The Children's Theatre Festival at University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance, Stages Repertory Theatre Early Stages, as well as many productions at The Texas Repertory Theatre and Stages Repertory Theatre. He is currently a third grade bilingual educator in HISD.
Patrick D. Green, Vice President Patrick studied theatre at North Harris Community College and Sam Houston State University with a focus on acting under Sherri Ryan White and Dr. Joseph B. Kaough III. His study of acting continues at Lone Star Actors' Studio, most recently under the guidance of Heaven Stephens. Prior roles have included Le Vicomte de Valmont in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Thomas Cromwell in A Man for All Seasons, and John Worthing in The Importance of Being Earnest. Patrick joined Unhinged Productions via his work on wigs, props and dressing for Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Dennis Draper, Secretary Dennis has worked in the Houston theatre community for the past 17 years as both an actor and director. As a director he has worked with the Houston Young Playwrights Exchange (H.Y.P.E.) at the Alley Theatre, Halloween Magic, Unhinged Productions and Illumination Arts. Dennis is a company member of Six of One Productions and he recently directed their original collection of works, The Hirsute Pogonophobic, by Houston playwright Crystal Jackson for the BooTown Fringe Festival. As an actor he has worked with the Mildred’s Umbrella, Texas Shakespeare Festival, Mystery Café, the Albee Workshops, Theatre New West and Curtains Theatre. He received his BA in Theatre from the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance and currently works as the director of operations and events at the Alley Theatre.
